Singam Review (Tamil Movie):

The film is about Durai Singam (Surya), a honest cop in Nellore, who takes up the job mainly because of his father wanting him to do. His father runs a provision stores and even Durai Singam wants to do the same. But unfortunately, he takes it up and solves out civil cases on his own attempts without failing cases. Kavya (Anushka) is the daughter a great business (Nasser) and comes for vacation. After coming across his good nature, she falls for him and even he does.

Cut to Chennai, a very bad goon Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj) is ruling the city threatening the victims by kidnapping their kids. Not so long, an unexpected case puts him across Singam and they get into big fight as the high voltage chase game begins right after the interval.

Kadhal Vandhale and En Idhayam are nice to hear and the background music is too good. Camera work by Priyan is nice and editing is speed.

Enjoy this film with your family members and it is good watching it for the money you pay.

Story:

A known tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Singampatti village where the Zamindar (nasser) is happily living with his wife (saranya), son Raghu (mithun) and daughter Ponnarasi (yamini). They are well respected by the village. Singaram (vivek) is a good for nothing fellow and his goal is to marry Ponnarasi and become rich by taking her property. The Story:

ACP Bose (Karthik) is a sincere police officer happily married to his wife (Anu Hassan) and lives with his parents and younger brother Velu (Arun Vijay). Velu falls in love with Anjali (Dhansika). Story:

Firstly, it’s worth mentioning that Tamil cinema hasn’t made any apt films for Children though most of the filmmakers had boasted about delivering them. Of course, there have been few children based films that had some elements which in no way was apt for the kids. Say for instance, the previous week’s ‘Rettai Suzhi’ had 12 yr old boy proposing his cousin girl and even kissing her.

Hats off to producer-filmmaker Rama Narayanan! He comes up with a film well-tailored for kids. The film has a simple storyline and indeed has an average screenplay. But, this is a movie you can watch just to pass your time.

If you’re kid has grown watching the Hollywood kids based flicks and are play station maniacs, they have got nothing to do with it.

‘Kutty Pisasu’ has a car getting transformed into a Robot, which is nothing but an inspiration from Hollywood movie ‘Transformers’.

The story is about a happy family (Ramji, Sangeetha and their girl daughter Keerthika). No worries have ever haunted them until their daughter goes by phenomenal activities. Later, they discover that their child is haunted by Sangeetha’s long time friend Kaveri’s ghost. At the same time, the car turning into a huge robot shocks the entire town. It’s exposed that ghost of Kaveri’s brother (Ganja Karuppu). The second half breaks open a discombobulating mystery behind the death of Kaveri and her brother and what’re are their ghosts about to do with.

Baby Keerthika has done a great performance as she seems to have rehearsed a lot much prior to standing before lens. She dances well, acts well and emotes extraordinarily to every sequence. Ramji and Sangeetha have nothing to do more with their minimal portions. Ganja Karuppu gets more footage unlike his previous films in which he had to just appear for the sake of comedy. Riyaz Khan as a baddie sleepwalks through the role. Delhi Ganesh and Manobala add to the humor quotients.

The scene where the miniature Kadhal Thandapani disguised as baby Keerthika creates problem inside Mutton stall is hilarious.

The graphics have been mastered well and the musical score could’ve been better.

If you’ve decided to watch this film, forget all your logical abilities, walk straight into the theatres, sip your drinks, munch your popcorns, sit back and relax.

This weekend may be dissatisfying for the film buffs as there aren’t any releases. But just hold your breath, for the upcoming week has half-a-dozen of films hitting screens.

Kola Kolaya Mundhrika

Madhumitha’s debut directorial was an emotional drama that didn’t intend to attract many audiences in spite of winning laurels. But this time, it’s a comedy entertainer based on treasure hunt. Starring Karthik Kumar in lead role, Crazy Mohan has written dialogues for this film.

Kadhalagi

Produced by K. Creations, the film is directed by K.R. Vishwa. Based on a poignant love story, the film features newcomers in lead roles with Prakash Raj donning a powerful character. A.R. Rahman’s sister A.R. Raihanna has composed songs while Thaman S has taken care of background score.

Maanja Velu

Karthik’s comeback in prominent role together with Prabhu speaks a lot for this film. Starring Arun Vijay and Peranmai fame Tansika in lead roles, the film has Santhanam taking care of comedy sequences. A. Venkatesh has wielded megaphone and is produced by Arun Vijay’s father-in-law Mohan under the banner of Feather Touch Entertainment. Musical score by Manisharma has been proved as a passable one.

Kutrappirivu

Followed by the grand success of Kana Kanden, the duo combo Prithviraj-Srikanth is back in action, but this time with a different genre. Kutrappirivu will be an action packed drama based on conspiracies and conflicts involved in police department. Kamalini Mukherji makes her comeback in Tamil film industry after a long time. The film is directed by Manmohan and is produced by Green Apple Productions and Divya Pictures.

Magane En Maarumagane

T.P. Gajendran, who doesn’t strain himself a lot over picking serious themes, comes up with yet another comedy entertainer titled Magane En Maarumagane. Just as other filmmakers publicize their film as ‘Summer Special’, T.P. Gajendran goes ahead in adding more factors alike – summer, Comedy, Ladies and Family Special. Raghav and comedy actor Vivek has performed full-fledged lead role in this family drama.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Producers have been targeting on kids for this summer and previous week’s release ‘Kutty Pisasu’ has proved of it. There is yet another film based on Children’s genre hitting screens on the same day May 21. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has the musical score by Ilayaraja and is produced by WELGATE CINEMA FOX PRIVATE Pvt Ltd.

Well, it looks like the whole weekend is gonna be a feast for movie lovers as they will have lots of options at the theaters.

Story

Kailash (Prabhu) and Ganga (Jyothika) is happily married wealthy couple. Kailash buys an abandoned palatial mansion on the insistence of Ganga. Legend has it that this mansion is a haunted one. Eeswar (Rajnikant) is the foster brother of Kailash and also an excellent psychiatrist. He visits haunted house and studies it. He comes to know that a Rajah who used to live in the same place around 150 years back. He forcibly got a danseuse called Chandramukhi from Tamilnadu and made her dance in his court. When she involved herself in an affair with another dancer, Rajah killed Chandramukhi and her lover together. The ghost of Chandramukhi haunts this palatial mansion. The rest of the story is all about how Eeswar solves the problem of ghost and how he unites the warring families as well.

Story:

Sura Tamil Movie Story:

A known tale, the story is set on the backdrop of a fishing hamlet named Yaazh nagar and here lives Sura (vijay). He is a nice young man and is loved by all for his helping nature and his good works. He is always accompanied by Umbrella (vadivelu) and together, they create a lot of fun and fiesta in the hamlet. In comes Poornima (tamannah) who is about to commit suicide but gets rescued. Eventually, she falls in love with Sura. The story takes a turn when the corrupt and powerful minister Samuthira Raja (dev gill) sets his eyes on the land of Yaazh Nagar and wants to grab it. Sura resists the moves of the minister and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Sura Tamil Movie Presentation:

The director has come up with a routine tale and both the presentation and narrative have been effective. The dialogues were the key with punch lines and high voltage, the script was average and the screenplay was neat. Background score worked and the songs were peppy. Cinematography was excellent. Editing could have been better. Costumes were suitable and the art department was apt. Vijay walks through his role like a cakewalk and he delivers a good act. Tamannah looks innocently seductive and she provides the required visual feast. The real show stealers were Vadivelu once again with his hilarious dialogues and comedy antics while Dev Gill looked evil and defined villainy. Sriman was standard, Riyaz Khan was regular, Ilavarasu did his bit as required.

Story:

Angadi Theru Movie Story:

A tale of survival, the story begins at the backdrop of a village where a boy (magesh) and a girl (anjali) come to the city of Chennai with the lure of a promising job. However, in no time, they are dumped into the sales counter of an expensive saree mall and the owner of the mall (a Venkatesh) gives them a rotten place to live. Under the worst conditions, both the boy and girl begin to get to know each other and as expected, they fall in love. This comes to the notice of the management and they dislike it. So, they start creating trouble for the two and they decide to fight it out. So both of them move out of the mall and attempt to lead a life on their own. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Angadi Theru Movie Presentation:

The director has come up with a highly realistic storyline and though the presentation was perfect, the narration could have been trimmed. The dialogues were simple, the script was strong and the screenplay was immersing. Background score was haunting and sucks you into the film. Songs were okay but not that connected. Cinematography deserves full marks in this film. Editing was not that sharp. Costumes were natural and the art department was alive. Magesh came up with an apt performance and he did justice to the full. Anjali looks naturally beautiful and she has tremendous talent, she must be given ample chances. Venkatesh was good as the mean man, Black Pandi was a relief, the sensuous Sneha didn't have much to do but she made her presence felt. The others hardly had anything to offer.

Angadi Theru Movie Conclusion:

The film is an upclose and personal look at the lives of thousands of those who come to the city with big dreams and find it hard to digest the pill of reality. It is about the big bad world out there and how life can be merciless. While the first half goes about with the struggles and the fighting spirit of the lead pair, the second half deals with how they go through the test of their love and whether they emerge successful or not. This film is only for those who live in reality and can handle the serious side of it. This is definitely not for the light hearted entertainment seeking folks.
