Aayirathil Oruvan Story:
A tale of twists, the story begins with the two archaeologists Anitha (reema) and Lavanya (andrea) who work with the government and they set out on a mission with a team to Vietnam. In this, they are also accompanied by a set of coolies and they are led by Sukumaran (karthi). During their journey, they come across many twists and turns due to which the trio gets separated from the rest. Soon, they chance upon an ethnic Tamil group in the island and they are ruled by a king (parthiban). The tribes are living in poor conditions and just when the trio is captured to be killed, Anita reveals a secret. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Aayirathil Oruvan Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting thought but then he could not conceive it completely on the screen. The presentation was rich but the narrative lacked depth at few points. The dialogues were okay, the script was strong but the screenplay was not upto the mark. Background score was good but the songs were just passing mark. The real hero of the film is the cinematography which has done a tremendous job. Editing was required at many places, costumes suited the flavor but the art department was over powering. Graphics were poor though. Karthi has come up with yet another spellbinding performance and his appeal is a a bit different. Reema has given a shocking performance as well and has sent a strong message to her critics. Andrea was beautiful and did her bit well. The real hero however was Parthiban who came up with an excellent performance. The others didn't have much to offer in this one.
Aayirathil Oruvan Conclusion:
The film is one of those adventure thrillers which arguably has never been seen before in the Kollywood circuit. While the first half goes smoothly without any hitches, it is the second half that gets dragged and then leads to an erratic ending. The technical values of the film are too high and so are the production values. Overall, the narration seems to have fumbled at few places. Given the hype before the release, the expectations were high but at the box office, it might turn out to be an average grosser.
